RECEPTIONIST OF THE YEAR AWARDS
ROTY COMPETITION 2009
   
The Association of Rooms Division Executives (ARDE) has actively been organising this competition since 1996 with the strong support from Shatec Institues and the Singapore Workforce Development Authority (WDA).
 

This year, all candidates were required to complete and attain the Workforce Skills Qualification (WSQ) certification for all 7 modules for Work Safely, Interact with Guest, Provide Reservation Services, Handle Guest Arrival, Handle Guest Departure, Maintain Guest Account, Provide Safety and Security for Guests.

The Association of Rooms Division Executives, together with the Singapore Workforce Development Authority has also co-sponsored a fully paid scholarship to pursue a WSQ Diploma in Tourism (Hospitality) at The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) here in Singapore. Should the winner decide not to partake in this scholarship, the winner’s hotel may transfer this prize to another Front Office staff.

The winner for the National Receptionist of the Year 2009 will also go on to represent Singapore at the International Best Hotel Receptionist of the Year 2010 competition to compete for the prestigious “David Campbell Trophy” competition to be held in Madrid, Spain from 13th to 17th January 2010.

The aim of this competition is to raise the profile of the Hotel Receptionist as a valid and rewarding career, ignite a healthy and competitive passion for customer service and motivate front line staff to excel in their current roles.

The winner for National Best Hotel Receptionist of the Year 2008 will go on to represent Singapore at the International Best Hotel Receptionist of the Year 2009 competition to win the prestigious “David Campbell Trophy” to be held in Cannes in Cote d’Azur, France on 19th February 2009. The winner will also walk away with a fully paid scholarship to pursue a WSQ Diploma in Tourism (Hospitality) at the University of Nevada Las Vegas here in Singapore. If the winner decides not to use this scholarship, the winner’s hotel can use it to for their other Front Office staff. This prize is co-sponsored by WDA and ARDE.
